'Trailing White' is one of the trailing Lantanas, commonly known as a "weeping Lantana". Characterized by their more pronounced trailing habit than other "common Lantanas" that may trail some but have an overall shrubby, upright habit. 'Trailing White' is a beautiful mix of pristine white flowers and slightly lavender hues with bright yellow center eyes. A MUST for any butterfly garden, this magnet for pollinators produces tons of long lasting blooms.
A tender perennial or annual in most Northern zones, Trailing White Lantanas are typically perennial in hot or tropic climates. Aromatic and beautiful, 'Trailing White' makes a perfect plant for hanging baskets or containers or as colorful ground cover. Cousins to Vervain and Lemon Verbena, the 'montevidensis', or trailing, side of the Lantana family is less common than the 'camaras' which include 'Dallas Red', 'Confetti' and 'Fuchsia'.
If you live in an area where lantanas are perennial, cut back hard in the early spring to remove old growth and prevent woodiness, to about 6 to 12 inches from ground level. DO NOT hard prune in the fall - this can cause reduced cold hardiness.
For whatever reason, I think that it is hard to find a reliable white flower for a sunny summer border. Look no further! 'Trailing White Lantana' is a wonderful companion flower - we use it in many of our 'Plant Collections' that require a pristine, clean white flower that blooms profusely.
