      Thymus x citriodorus 'variegata'

'Golden Variegated' Thyme has occasional leaves with scattered yellow edges, making it a great ornamental herb. Its light lemony flavor doubles it as a wonderful culinary herb, great in fruit salad and other summer dishes. 'Golden Variegated' is a great herb because it does not overpower the flavor of companion herbs and spices. Add it early on when cooking hot dishes to best infuse the food with lemon flavor.

'Golden Variegated' Thyme is very drought tolerant and can be used in place of grass on a lawn. It makes a lovely aromatic ground cover and has an 18" spread. It blooms profusely and grows very quickly, so cut this variety back to control its invasive nature.

Like most Thymes, the 'Golden Variegated' Thyme makes a delicious medicinal tea that boosts the immune system and can be used to treat respiratory congestion and sore throats. High in iron and with antiseptic properties, this variety of Thyme is a valuable and easy to grow addition to any garden or planter!

It makes a wonderful accent plant, so try it in a container or as an under-planting to Lemon Verbena. To keep thyme happy, plant in full sun and well-drained soil.
