These upright, eye catching annuals make a beautiful filler in your garden or bouquet! Taller and more erect than most Gomphrena varieties, 'Strawberry Fields' produces vibrant red bract covered tips from which delicate little yellow blooms grow. These bracts are actually part of an extension of the plant's leaves, though they look very similar to small red Alpine Strawberries. These papery-thin bracts dry need little water and dry easily, which allows the plant to retain its brilliant red "bloom". Extremely attractive to bees and butterflies, these clover-like red pom poms are considered everlasting.
Similar to the 'QIS Purple' Gomphrena, 'Strawberry Fields' makes a great splash of color when used to under plant larger plants in your garden or as a stunning stand alone in a window box or decorative container.
Gomphrenas are natives of Texas and Mexico so they are perfect for areas with hot and humid summers.
