      Pycnanthemum incanum

Mountain Mint, a wild-growing mint plant often found along roadsides and woodlands, makes a great addition to your culinary  herb arsenal.

Used in many of the same ways as other varieties from the Mint family, 'Mountain' is a great seasoning for meats, desserts, beverages and sauces. To retain the best flavor when drying, harvest the Mountain Mint plant's tops and leaves when it is in bloom. Lending a spicier taste than the fruitier strains like 'Apple' Mint and 'Orange' Mint, 'Mountain' makes a deliciously useful tea.

      The Power of Mountain Mint

'Mountain' Mint like many of its cousins, is also a natural insect repellent. Place it in your drawers, closets and rub it on your clothing to deter insects. You can also fill a small, breathable bag or pillow case with this and place it in the dryer with your clothes for a laundry load of fresh mint smelling clothing.

Also considered highly important by many Native American tribes, 'Mountain' Mint was thought to bring people back from the dead. Tribes used to crush fresh mint and place it in the noses of those who were on the brink of death, claiming the powerful aroma would snap them back to life.
