Light:  Full-Partial shade (In cooler climates it will do well in full sun but southern locations may need the part shade)

Temperature:  Perennial for Hardiness Zones 8-11

Watering:  It likes moist soil, watering regularly but do not allow the plant to stay wet for too long.

Soil: Moist Rich Well Drained Soil

Comments:  This plant is looking for heat and humidity due to being a tropical plant. You can plant in the ground if this is your growing conditions year around but container growing is best for customers that get cooler temperatures. If your growing in ground mulching helps keep in warmth and moisture.

Herb Description

A native to tropical Asia, this rhizomatous perennial herb produces a plump yellow rhizome that is well known for both its medicinal and culinary uses. The flower of this plant is worth the wait, it can take until it's second year of life to bloom. It will take you breath away once it does!

Ginger grows best in rich, moist well draining soils. It appreciates warm temperatures, and its biggest issue is rot. The plump, yellow rhizomes can be due in late summer to early fall.

A well known culinary herb, Ginger is essential described as both tender and sweet, as well as tangy and spicy, this herb has a distinctive flavor that can be used in all sorts of dishes: curries, stews, soups, salads, pickles and chutneys. In a powdered form, it adds a warm and spicy flavor, and when crystallized, it is used in many types of baked goods. Ginger oil has many commercial uses, most well known is in ginger ale.
