      Aloyia Citriodora

      Herb Growing Tips

Light:  Be sure to plant in full sun. If indoors, place in a very sunny windowsill.

      Temperature:  Hardiness Zones 8-11

Watering: Give your Lemon Verbena a good watering when it is dry to the touch. It will not tolerate constant sogginess.

Soil: Lemon Verbena loves well-drianing soil of average quality.

Comments:  Keep the plant in a sunny location, let it dry slightly between watering, pinch back for bushy growth and enjoy it year-round. In the garden or in the window sill, lemon herbs are a must for both the cook and gardener.

      Herb Description

Lemon Verbena was made popular as a perfume centuries ago when introduced by Spanish conquistadors who had found the aromatic herb in South America. Since that time Lemon Verbena has been used in everything from recipes to soaps. Because Lemon Verbena holds its citric fragrance long after being dried, it makes a great addition to potpourris and herb pillows, and can be used in closets and drawers to freshen laundry. We are proud to offer lemon verbana plants for sale.

Lemon Verbena is a useful culinary herb, used in teas, salads, dressings and desserts. Blending well with various Mints, Lemon Verbena oil has become increasingly expensive, so Lemongrass makes a cheaper and highly effective alternative.

A wonderful herb plant that will do very well when potted for container gardening or in an indoor herb garden.

    • All Purpose Lemon Verbena - Vinegar Spray

Herbal sprays have two major benefits: they are comprised of one main ingredient, whatever cleaning agent you choose, so you are not paying for all of the other additives, packaging and marketing. In addition, the fresh herbs that you choose leave a lingering fresh smell that reminds you that you are living a 'greener life'!
We love the fresh, lemony scent of Lemon Verbena, and this non-toxic spray can be used on almost any surface. It is not recommended for any porous stone surface (marble or granite). An herb vinegar spray can be used almost anywhere and for any job, especially in the kitchen and bath.

      Basic ingredients:

      Fresh Lemon Verbena Leaves
      Distilled white vinegar

      • Simply chop 1-2 cups of fresh Lemon Verbena leaves (don't stop there, if you have other herbs to add - rosemary or lavender work well).

      • Place herbs in a wide mouth glass jar with a tight fitting lid. Warm 1-2 cups of vinegar on the stove, and add to the jar covering the herbs. Tighten the lid and leave a few days in order for the infusion to take place.
      • Strain out the herbs and pour the liquid into a spray bottle. If you find that the vinegar is too strong, you can dilute the strength by adding water (up to half of the vinegar).
