Achillea millefolium
Herb Growing Tips
Light: Full sun, a southern exposure.
Temperature: Herbaceous perennial hardy in Zones 4 to 9
Watering: Drought Tolerant, water only when the soil has dried out
Soil: Does best in well drained soil, but is not picky about soil quality.
Comments: Deadheading old flowers will encourage the plant to produce more blooms for longer. Yarrow is a fast grower and will do great with assistance from stakes holding up the blooms.
Herb Description
Achillea Millefolium make wonderful flower arrangements, both fresh and dried. Achillea, also referred to as Yarrow, must be dried carefully to avoid mildew. Cut and bundled the entire plant, roots and all, before hanging upside down to dry. You can also pick flowers and leaves directly off the stems, and lay them out to dry. Achillea can fade, so pick when blooms are newly opened, in the early morning. Avoid exposing the blooms to sunlight, and hang in a dark spot with little to no moisture. |
