This asclepias is known for its showy pink and fragrant blooms - large clusters of deliciously vanilla scented flowers that grow on sturdy stems. This asclepias makes a dramatic statement in the garden or perennial border.
Asclepias incarnata Swamp Milkweed is also known as 'Rose Milkweed', this deer resistant plant grows in moist to average soils, and blooms in July and August. A popular source of nectar for monarch butterflies as well as other pollinators, you will be amazed at how many 'guests' this plant attracts to its blooms!
This is a native plant, and although a bit slow to emerge (so remember to give it time in the spring!), it will reward you with a fast growing and long blooming plant. Once the blooms are gone, there will be interesting pods filled with seeds that will eventually be scattered by the wind.
