    Herb Description

Also known as 'Indian Tobacco', Wild Tobacco or Aztec Tobacco, in small doses this medicinal herb acts as a stimulant, especially on the respiratory system. In larger doses it acts as a nerve depressant, and is useful for asthma and whooping cough. Use with caution as excessive doses can cause severe depression. YES, this plant is extremely toxic due to it's high amounts of nicotine when it has not been harvested and dried completely out. It should not be eaten if it hasn't been harvest and dried! Due to it's bitterness in the leaves it can be grown safely as an ornamental. Since most animals will stay away from chewing it.

This plant can be quite the show stopper, it's lovely yellow flower in mid summer, and makes an interesting garden plant. Also since the leaves have the bitterness that most insects stay away from. This plant is very easy to maintain!
