Huacatay has many names...it's also known as "Black Mint" and by it's Latin name Tagetes minuta. Even though it's refer to as Black Mint it's actually more closely related to the Marigold family.
This plant has a wonderfully complex smell of cilantro, licorice, spearmint, tarragon and let's not leave out a little bit of citrus! When using it in the kitchen it's great for tea or its most popular use making Peruvian Black Mint Sauce! This plants is not only used for in the kitchen, it's wonderful at repelling insects.
