Lavandula x intermedia 'Provence'
Characteristics: One of the best Lavender varieties for its intoxicating fragrance and easily removable buds, Lavender Provence is perennial in zones 5 through 9.
Light:'Provence' prefers full sun
Water: Like most Lavenders, 'Provence' is drought tolerant and doesn't need much water. Over watering is one of the biggest mistakes made with this plant, as they are easily susceptible to root rot or disease if they remain moist for too long.
Soil:Very well drained, loamy soil is best for Lavender. These plants hate "wet feet", and you may even have to add sand to your soil mix to help aid drainage.
Use: This evergreen is primarily grown for its sweet scent and is the best variety for crafts and potpourris, as the fragrant buds are easily removed and have a long lasting perfume.
Extras: Deer and pest resistant, Lavenders are easy to grow and maintain in your garden or when potted.
