This German cultivar is a perfect plant for so many reasons: it works in the kitchen, in the garden or as a wonderful accent in your containers.
Sages are wonderful herb plants and Berggarten' is known as a prolific grower. It rarely blooms, which means that its leave production never stops. Large, wide oval leaves are a lovely silvery-blue. It has a nice, neat compact growth habit which makes it the perfect edging plant in your garden, or a container. gorgeous accent in herb gardening, in a container, or as a garnish. We love it in the garden planted with other herb plants. Try planting with Artemisia 'Wormwood' for a gorgeous silver garden.
Berggarten's flavor combines quite well with oreganos and thymes and should be used liberally in all your cooking. Sage isn't just for Turkey anymore!
This sage grows best in full sun, well draining soil and can withstand frost. Even better, it is both drought tolerant and deer resistant!
